This is the time for small.
Like three or four pints of apricot jam, not twenty.
Like a garden of one zucchini plant, one row of green beans, three plants of parsley
and two hollyhocks standing sentry.
Small is the size of my energy.
Small is good.

The house smelled wonderful! It was incredible to just make four pints, where I would have certainly have made at least 12, and started other jams too, since I had the canner out. That was other years. This is now.
